Job Summary:
The Principal is responsible for providing the instructional, operational, cultural and administrative leadership necessary to ensure the success of the center(s), including primary responsibility for academic achievement and retention of students. The principal/director is the overall leader of the center(s), with a dominant focus (estimated at 80% of time spent) on instructional leadership. The Principal will also be held accountable for the recruitment, induction, and retention of the staff (20% of time spent). The Principal will be held accountable for the continuous improvement of the center(s) and its staff and for increased student achievement.
Background:
Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or, Masters Degree in a specialty area such as Elementary Education or Secondary Education or, Masters Degree in Educational Administration & Supervision (highly preferred)
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
Minimum of 3 years experience in instructional leadership, including at least two years as an assistant principal (previous principal experience highly preferred)
Georgia Educational Leadership certification (required)
Ability to recognize effective instruction based on current research
Knowledge of research-based teacher evaluation and observation methods (TKES-credentialed highly preferred)
Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills
Proficiency with technology (including student data systems, Microsoft Office suite, communication tools, and instructional technology)
Relevant experience with at-risk student population (alternative high school leadership experience highly preferred)
