Position(s) Federally Title VI-B Funded
Bachelors or higher degree in a Special Education Field.
Hold or be eligible for a Georgia Educator professional certificate in a Special Education teaching field. Preferred: Valid professional Georgia Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Director of Special Education.
Knowledge of and understanding of IDEA, special education programming, Georgia Special Education Rules and Regulations and due process procedures related to special education. In depth knowledge and understanding of state and federal special education requirements. Special education teacher leadership experience in a K-12 school setting.
Skill to work successfully with colleagues, including district-level personnel, school-based personnel, parents, and students; ability to project and generate positive attitudes; and ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing in formal and informal settings required.
Ability to effectively conduct and/or participate in the IEP process and demonstrate expertise in effectively providing appropriate modifications based on the IEP. Ability to investigate and use new strategies for delivering student services by conducting or participating in continuing professional development. One must demonstrate excellent organization, written and verbal communications skills and demonstrate an aptitude in interpersonal skills. Must also possess characteristics and professional competencies to work successfully with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the public.
Assists the Director of Special Education by working collaboratively with supervisors, school administrators, teachers and others in facilitating, coordinating, and supporting the development and implementation of Special Education programs and services to enhance the effectiveness of classroom instruction and maximize student achievement through the design and delivery of high quality work. This person works closely with parents and community members in supporting and communicating district goals and changes in local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.

207 days; Forsyth County School System Teachers/Professionals 2013-14 Compensation Schedule; effective July 18, 2013
