Job Description
This position is available immediately. The Director of Curriculum assists the Chief Academic Officer in the development and improvement of the entire instructional program of the school district. To be considered, candidates must hold a minimum of an L-5 certificate and have teaching and/or supervisory experience totaling at least six (6) years. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. This position will assist in the development and evaluation of the total instructional program and the school districts curriculum; will assist in the interpretation of current research in the areas of curriculum development and instruction; will assist in the development of curriculum for the school system; will review and evaluate results of the district-wide assessment program and make recommendations for using the results for program improvement; will assist in determining the need for new courses; will assist in developing the scope and sequence for the school systems total instructional program; will assist in the evaluation and procurement of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment; will assist principals and teachers in understanding and promoting the educational objectives of the system; will produce curriculum bulletins and guides; will assist with implementation of new programs of instruction; will maintain system course master; will supervise and evaluate all classified and certified members of the Department of Instruction and Curriculum; and will participate in facility and professional meetings, educational conferences, and staff development opportunities.
